Google Posts: “Fodder” for AI and local customers

Many people create their Google business profile once and then leave it alone. That’s a big mistake! With its “Google Updates” feature (formerly Posts), Google offers a way to share news directly in the search engine – free of charge and extremely effectively.

Why are posts so important for AEO?

Artificial intelligence searches for up-to-date information. A profile that was last touched three years ago appears “dead.” A profile that posted an offer last week appears “alive” and relevant.

Ideas for local Google Posts:

  • Offers of the week: “20% off all winter tires this week.”
  • Events: “Open house on Saturday – come by!”
  • News: “We’ve expanded our team – welcome, Maria!”
  • Product highlights: A short photo and text about a new service.

The call-to-action is built in

Each post can have a button: “Call now,” “Reserve,” “Order online.” This greatly shortens the path from searcher to customer.

Pay attention to expiration dates

In the past, posts disappeared after 7 days, but today they remain visible longer, although they slip down in the feed. Regularity is key. A short update once a week is often enough to set the signals to “green” for Google.
